Scope

Derive Notes Pty Ltd (ACN 696 859 597), of Queensland, Australia, makes Derive. This policy covers the Derive app on every platform, the website at derivenotes.com, and any service that links to this policy.

What we collect

Your account details and age. The notebooks you write, including handwriting, drawings, typed text, and images. What the AI produces from them. Files you upload and code you run. Device and technical data, including your IP address. Payment status. What you write to us.

If you turn them on, we also collect usage analytics and screen recordings.

Why we collect it

To run your account, store and sync your notebooks, read your handwriting, and answer questions about your work. To take payment. To fix faults and stop abuse.

We also train our own handwriting and mathematics models on the content you create. That is how Derive gets better at reading your writing. You can object at any time by emailing us.

Who we share it with

Your notebooks, account, and files are stored with Supabase in Sydney, Australia. They do not leave Australia to be stored.

To read your handwriting we send it to AI providers in the United States. Analytics and screen recordings go to PostHog in the European Union. Diagnostics go to Sentry in the United States. The full list of providers, what each receives, and which country each is in, is at derivenotes.com/subprocessors.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us what we hold, ask for a copy, correct it, delete it, or object to a use. Email matt@derivenotes.com.

You can delete your account inside the app. You can turn off the optional AI features in Settings → AI. You can turn off usage analytics and screen recording in Settings → Account. Both are off until you switch them on.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

You must be at least 13 to use Derive.

How to complain

Email matt@derivenotes.com first, and we will answer.

If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. In the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland you can complain to your local supervisory authority.
